The Confidence Within: Finding Beauty in My Strength Story

If you had told me as a little girl that one day I’d be speaking to women about confidence, I wouldn’t have believed you. I was born without two digits on my right hand, and that difference marked more than just my physical appearance. It shaped how I saw myself. I spent years trying to hide it, pose around it, and minimize my presence so no one would notice.

Because every time someone did notice, I’d hear the same question: “What happened?” Back then, I thought they were pointing out what was wrong with me. But now, I realize they weren’t judging me—they were curious about my story. They wanted to understand the strength behind what they saw.

That question no longer makes me shrink. It makes me reflect. What is my strength story? And more importantly, what is yours?

In a world chasing cookie-cutter perfection, I realized people don’t need influencers who seem flawless. They need women who are unafraid to show their scars and boldly embrace them. Because our scars aren’t signs of weakness—they’re testimonies of strength. They remind us that we’ve endured, we’ve overcome, and we’re stronger than we ever imagined.

That truth now fuels my life’s work.

Today, I’m the founder of Journey Candle Co., a faith-based fragrance brand designed to engage the senses, cultivate hearts of praise, and create sacred spaces for reflection and renewal. I’m also the host of The EDIFY Podcast, where I amplify stories of believers, business owners, and creatives who are building lives on purpose.

I also host a live, in-person experience called The “Voices That Edify” Encounter—a candle-making and empowerment gathering for Christian women who are ready to heal, reconnect with their purpose, and ignite their voice for God’s glory. As women create their candles, I guide them through intentional reflection and share a Spirit-led message that reminds them who they are in Christ. It’s more than a creative workshop—it’s a sacred encounter where fragrance meets faith and confidence is reignited through truth, testimony, and the Word.

Whether it’s a comforting scent, a heartfelt conversation, or a hands-on workshop, I help women slow down, breathe deep, and reconnect to who they are in Christ.

I believe confidence and purpose go hand in hand. And purpose isn’t something you manufacture—it’s something you remember, because it’s already within you. God once told me, “Your destiny is in your DNA.” That means your purpose is often tucked inside the very things you already love to do. When we yield ourselves to Him, call out to Him, and begin walking in those passions with intention, we start to uncover our divine assignment. And as we walk towards that purpose, confidence follows.

When we create space to be still and reflect, we tap back into that knowing. That place of truth where identity is rooted not in what we do or how we look, but in who we are and whose we are.

My personal beauty journey has taught me that self-love begins when we stop striving for perfection and start embracing wholeness, even in our imperfections. I no longer hide my hand. In fact, I lead with it. Because it’s the very thing that reminds me I was made to stand out, not shrink back. My difference is not my weakness. It’s my witness.

I’ve also noticed a beautiful shift in how women define beauty today. We’re leaving behind unrealistic ideals and embracing meaningful practices that nourish the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.

At Journey Candle Co., we create intentional products that support this shift—candles, room sprays, and workshops that turn everyday moments into sacred experiences.

Confidence, to me, is a deep remembering of who you’ve always been. It’s purpose. It’s peace. It’s the quiet strength of a woman rooted in her identity—secure, surrendered, and sure. She doesn’t need a spotlight to shine, because her light comes from within.

So here I am. A woman with a visible difference, a calling to create, and a mission to edify.

And that, to me, is the most beautiful glow-up of all.
