Unapologetically Becoming

There comes a moment in life when you stop asking for permission to be who you were always meant to become. A moment where the noise quiets down, the expectations fall away, and you finally choose yourself. That moment is what defines a real boss move.

For Zormarah Lyda, founder of Candidly Unsed LLC, that moment was not wrapped in perfection, applause, or overnight success. It came through pain, transition, sacrifice, and the uncomfortable reality of rebuilding after an untimely departure from service. But instead of allowing that chapter to silence her, she used it as fuel to create something powerful. Something intentional. Something honest.

Candidly Unsed was birthed from the feeling so many people know all too well...being unseen and unheard in personal and professional spaces. And instead of shrinking under that weight, Zormarah decided to become the voice she once needed herself.

That is what makes her different.

She is not trying to fit inside a polished box or perform perfection for the world. She is choosing authenticity over approval. She is choosing evolution over comfort. And most importantly, she is choosing to show up unapologetically.

In a world where women are constantly given titles by others, daughter, sister, leader, veteran, entrepreneur, caregiver, friend, Zormarah made the decision to define herself on her own terms. The title she carries most proudly is unapologetic. Not because she lacks grace, but because she understands the importance of becoming fully aligned with who she truly is.

And honestly? That kind of self-awareness changes everything.

Her perspective on leadership itself has transformed over time. During her Army years, leadership was modeled as authority and command. But life taught her something different. Today, she believes leadership is rooted in rectitude and service to others. It is about integrity. It is about influence. It is about becoming the kind of person people can trust, not because of a title, but because of your character.

That level of growth only comes through reflection.

One of the most powerful mindset shifts she made was releasing perfectionism. So many women stay stuck because they believe everything has to be flawless before they start. But growth does not happen in perfection. Growth happens in movement. Growth happens in consistency. Growth happens when you stop waiting to feel fully ready and decide to trust yourself anyway.

And that is exactly what she has done.

She continues to build her business through meaningful connections, continuous learning, and putting herself in spaces where her voice matters. She understands that scaling requires visibility, courage, and the willingness to evolve publicly.

But perhaps the most inspiring part of her journey is the way she protects her confidence.

In rooms where she has been underestimated or overlooked, she learned not to seek validation externally. Instead, she strengthened her own perception of self. She learned that confidence is not about being the loudest person in the room. It is about knowing your value before you walk through the door.

That kind of inner work changes how you move.

Like many successful women, Zormarah has also had to make sacrifices. The greatest sacrifice being time. Time is one of the most valuable resources we have, and building something meaningful requires boundaries, discipline, and difficult decisions. She had to protect her peace and preserve her energy in order to pursue the vision placed on her life.

And according to her, it has all been worth it.

Her mission is bigger than business. She wants women to recognize the power within themselves. To stop allowing the world to define who they are. To understand that self-reflection is not weakness, it is transformation. She wants women to see her journey and realize they are capable of becoming more too.

Real leadership is not pretending to have it all together. Real leadership is being willing to grow in real time.

Today, Zormarah is focused on reframing the way we network and connect as professionals. She is also preparing future leaders through her work as an authorized training partner for individuals pursuing certification as Resilience Building Leadership Professionals. Her goal is clear, to help people become stronger leaders, stronger communicators, and stronger versions of themselves.

And if there is one thing her journey proves, it is this:

The most powerful thing a woman can become is herself.

Fully.

Honestly.

And unapologetically.

Choosing yourself does not mean the journey becomes easy. It means accepting your own potential and refusing to let fear, doubt, or past circumstances determine your future.
