Women and the Future of Wealth: Rebuilding After 50 and Rising Again Through Real Estate

By Catherine Matthews-Hyatt I never imagined that at age 50, I would be starting my entire life over. My marriage had ended, my finances had collapsed, and everything I had spent decades building was suddenly gone. I found myself in a place I never thought I’d stand: beginning again with nothing but faith, determination, and a desire to survive.

What looked like an ending became the foundation of my greatest financial comeback. Before everything fell apart, I had built wealth through both real estate and the beauty industry. For over 30 years, I worked as a cosmetologist while simultaneously investing in multiple properties, and together those industries helped me generate millions. But during my marriage, different personal ideals, different visions, and a devastating divorce that was meant to break me — instead became the moment God rebuilt me. The financial loss was overwhelming, yet it became the turning point that pushed me to start again through the one vehicle I knew God would use: real estate investing.

When I began rebuilding, I didn’t have a master plan — I had faith and fight. I started studying the market, analyzing opportunities, and taking strategic risks. One property at a time, one prayer at a time, I slowly rebuilt what had been lost. My confidence grew, my vision sharpened, and my life began to transform.

Today, I stand as a Real Estate Investor, Wealth-Builder, Author, and Founder of Exclusive Investors LLC — a woman restored, strengthened, and walking in financial purpose. I not only regained what I lost, but exceeded. My journey inspired me to co-author The Seven Keys of Success in Real Estate with my son, a top-producer Realtor  who witnessed my comeback from the beginning. Together, we created a guide that empowers women — especially those rebuilding later in life — to pursue ownership, financial, wisdom, and wealth courageously.

Along the way, I discovered four truths about wealth that every woman should know: You are never too old to rebuild. Starting over at 50 taught me that wealth has no age limit. Women can create  financial transformation at any stage of life.

  • Confidence is a wealth strategy. Before money can grow, mindset must grow. When a woman believes in her ability to build, she positions herself for financial success.

  • Real estate is a powerful wealth vehicle for women. Real estate restored my life. It offers stability, equity, and the opportunity to create legacy. It’s accessible, practical, and transformative.

  • Faith is the foundation of financial resilience. My comeback was not only strategic — it was spiritual. What was meant to break me became the soil God used to rebuild me. Faith guided my decisions, fueled my courage, and reminded me that restoration was possible.

Women everywhere are rising in power, purpose, and financial intelligence. We are rewriting the future of wealth—not from what we lost, but from what we are capable of rebuilding.

If there is one thing I want every woman to know, it is this: You can start again. You can rise again. And you can build wealth — no matter what you’ve walked through or how late you begin. Connect With Catherine www.thethroneroom.co
