My name is Donna Fields Brown. I'm a 74 year young author, retired RN, professional musician and pantomime, and certified yoga teacher, living in Pearce, a small rural community in SE Arizona.

For as long as I have lived, I have indeed LIVED! I don't always give myself credit for achievements, yet In writing books, journaling, teaching and learning from my students, and sharing knowledge and wisdom, I intuitively know that I am creating a legacy that will extend well beyond my existence. My legacy is the music I played in my teenage years, that I abandoned to make a living working as a nurse, and that boomeranged back to me in my almost retirement years. The rebirth occurred via a phone call that directly routed me back to my musical roots. The 70's rock band's original music I helped create was rediscovered by a leading music producer forty years after its creation, and received WORLDWIDE ACCLAIM! My husband and I are still playing music today. We are now playing with a drummer as a trio in assisted living facilities, schools, and other local venues, and are making indelible memories and impressions on all who hear our music. The music we grew up with and loved, we are now playing it forward.

The life experience that most represents how I show up for others is in my studies with other teachers, some great and others not as much. As a child, I was always fascinated by world renowned comedians (i.e. Jerry Lewis, Marcel Marceau), and never dreamed that I would ever meet one, much less study with one. I had an incredible opportunity to study for three summers with French Pantomime Marcel Marceau, when I attended a professional School of Mime in Columbus, Ohio in the early 90's. I learned a vast array of technique and stylized movement, and most importantly, I learned how to become a better teacher to my students.

Advice I would offer to women trying to find and build meaning in their own lives, is in doing what you love, and loving what you do! All too often, especially as women, we try to cram too many roles into our lives to fulfill the expectations of others. We are mothers and/or career women, we are wives, and nurturers to our children and/or pets, yet we don't have a clue how to nurture ourselves. When we nurture ourselves, we learn to become better mothers to ourselves. When we become better self mothers, we take better care of ourselves, and have more positive energy to devote to building and living our most meaningful and impactful lives!
