I am Milly Barker, a Tech Entrepreneur and Founder of RemotePad (https://remotepad.net/). I have over 8 years of experience in startup operations and business pivots. I would love to share my bold move story.
Situation: Back in 2019, RemotePad was struggling as a traditional recruitment platform. We were bleeding money, barely keeping up with competitors, and I was honestly ready to shut down. The pandemic hit, and remote work exploded, but we weren't positioned to capitalize on it.
Move: I made what everyone thought was a crazy decision, and I pivoted our entire business model overnight. Instead of competing in the crowded recruitment space, I bet everything on becoming a remote work infrastructure company. We went from helping companies find talent to helping them manage distributed teams.

We scrapped 70% of our existing code, laid off half our team, and rebuilt from scratch in 4 months. I burned through my savings and took on debt to make it happen.
That pivot changed everything. Revenue jumped 340% in our first year post-pivot.
What mattered, though, we found our purpose. Instead of being another job board, we were endowing businesses with the tools to thrive remotely.
The entrepreneurs winning right now are making bold bets on where the world's heading.
