Stepping Into My Power:From Setbacks to Building with Intention

For a long time, I thought power meant fitting into a mold. I believed leadership was about being tough, being the best, and proving myself in rooms where I often felt underestimated. What I’ve learned over the years is that true power has nothing to do with volume or perfection. It’s about owning your story, trusting your intuition, and leading with intention. My journey has been anything but linear. I’ve faced challenges that forced me to start over, moments where I questioned everything, and times when the easiest choice would have been to quit. But every setback became an invitation to grow into the woman, and leader, I believe I am today.

When I launched Fifth & Cor, my marketing and innovation company, I wasn’t just starting a business. I was creating a space where strategy and creativity could live alongside empathy and purpose. I knew the industry didn’t need another creative company that produced campaigns for clicks—it needed a partner that understood people, culture, and connection. That belief became the heartbeat of the company and, in many ways, the foundation of my own leadership.

But stepping into my power wasn’t just about business growth. It was about redefining what leadership looked like for me as a woman. Early on, I often felt like I had to prove myself twice over to show I could sit at the table, that I deserved the opportunity, that I belonged. Over time, I realized that shrinking myself to fit someone else’s definition of success was never going to get me where I needed to go. The moment I embraced my perspective as my greatest strength and not a limitation, everything shifted.

That shift is what also led me to launch The Cor Collective, a community designed to reimagine how we network and support one another. I wanted to create a space where relationships were built on authenticity, collaboration, and generosity, not just transactions. Watching that vision come to life has reminded me that power grows when we share it.

Stepping into my power has meant trusting myself even when the path ahead isn’t clear, leaning on my community when I need support, and using my platform to create opportunities for others. It means letting go of the idea that I have to do it all perfectly, and instead focusing on doing it all with heart.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that power doesn’t come from being the loudest voice in the room. It comes from knowing who you are, what you stand for, and having the courage to keep showing up as that person every single day.

Today, I lead with curiosity, empathy, and boldness—not because I have it all figured out, but because I’ve learned to trust that the most authentic version of me is also the most powerful. And if my story can remind women that setbacks don’t define us, and that our power has been within us all along, then every twist in my journey has truly been worth it.
